“I saw an opportunity, and I seized it!” ~ Whitey, Flushed Away

We recently spotted a pre-loved 2019 Skipper Model T for sale, and we thought it was the perfect opportunity to upgrade from our (perfectly fine) 2011 Model T LT. We picked up “Baloo Too” just in time for the Skipper Tent Trailers Christmas Weekend.
We also managed to sell the original Baloo to a a family in the Western Cape. We wish them many happy years with their Skipper!

This year, there were around 50 Skipper families with their vans at Mac Nicol’s Resort, Bazley Beach, for the annual Christmas Dinner. As usual, Reinhart from Skipper went out fishing and we were treated to a most delicious meal of fresh Fish & Chips and salads. Mmmmm! Yum!

It’s a family thing …

It was a pleasure to reunite with our old friends from previous rallies and meet some new faces.

For short trips like this, we only pitch the Rally tent and carry the bare basics. We took our wildebeest patties and shared a friend’s braai fire for Friday dinner.

Surprisingly, apart from a few drops over night, it didn’t rain as is usual for a Skipper Weekend.

The next Skipper trip is planned for March 2022. We’ll be heading to the Midlands! Can’t wait!

About Mac Nicol’s Resort

Less than 100kms from Durban, Mac Nicol’s Resort is 90 metres from miles of unspoilt beach and is on the banks of the Ifafa Lagoon. All sites are large and are mainly shaded. On arrival, relax with a cup of tea while the friendly Mac Nicol’s staff erect your tent for you. This is definitely the best way to start your camping holiday!

The resort comprises several named areas: Lagoon; Fish Eagle; Froggy Pond; Bazley Park (The original park); Mango Valley; Stream; Upper; and River View, as well as the Private Ablutions sites.
There is a well-stocked shop and bottle store, with a takeaway open during long weekends and season. Try the famous chip roll, or grab an ice-cream on a hot day!

A very full entertainment programme is offered during season, but even out of season there is a lot to do: trampolines, a jungle gym, huge hall, tv room, the Bazley Trails, canoeing on the lagoon and much more. The tradition of morning tea and scones at the pool area is the perfect opportunity to make new friends.

The Mac Nicol family have been in the caravan park business since 1971, and being caravaners themselves they know exactly what is needed to make your holiday break the best ever.
